Install Fency in Developer Mode
Developer Mode allows you to install the Fency extension locally without going through the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons Store.
This is useful for testing, pilots, or when your organisation is not yet using Google Workspace or Microsoft Intune for deployment.
Steps (Chrome / Chromium browsers)
Download the Fency extension package
You should have received a.zipfile with the extension from TeamFence.Extract the files
Unzip the package to a folder on your computer.
(Keep track of the folder path — you’ll need it in the next step.)Open Chrome Extensions settings
- Open Chrome.
- Go to
chrome://extensions/in the address bar.
Enable Developer mode
Toggle the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner.Load the unpacked extension
- Click Load unpacked.
- Select the folder where you extracted the Fency files.
- The Fency extension will now appear in your extensions list.
Steps (Microsoft Edge)
- Download and extract the Fency extension package (same as above).
- Open Edge and go to
edge://extensions/. - Enable Developer mode using the switch at the bottom left.
- Click Load unpacked.
- Select the folder with the extracted Fency files.
- The Fency extension will now be installed locally in Edge.
Verify installation
- The Fency icon should appear in your browser’s extensions area.
- If it doesn’t, open the Extensions menu and pin Fency to the toolbar.
- Log in with your organisation credentials if prompted.
⚠️ Note: Extensions installed in Developer Mode are not updated automatically.
For production use, we recommend deployment via Google Workspace or Microsoft Intune.
