Single user - local installation

Install Fency in Developer Mode

Developer Mode allows you to install the Fency extension locally without going through the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons Store.
This is useful for testing, pilots, or when your organisation is not yet using Google Workspace or Microsoft Intune for deployment.

Steps (Chrome / Chromium browsers)

  1. Download the Fency extension package
You should have received a .zip file with the extension from TeamFence.

  2. Extract the files
Unzip the package to a folder on your computer.
(Keep track of the folder path — you’ll need it in the next step.)

  3. Open Chrome Extensions settings

    • Open Chrome.
    • Go to chrome://extensions/ in the address bar.
  4. Enable Developer mode
Toggle the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner.

  5. Load the unpacked extension

    • Click Load unpacked.
    • Select the folder where you extracted the Fency files.
    • The Fency extension will now appear in your extensions list.

Steps (Microsoft Edge)

  1. Download and extract the Fency extension package (same as above).
  2. Open Edge and go to edge://extensions/.
  3. Enable Developer mode using the switch at the bottom left.
  4. Click Load unpacked.
  5. Select the folder with the extracted Fency files.
  6. The Fency extension will now be installed locally in Edge.

Verify installation

  • The Fency icon should appear in your browser’s extensions area.
  • If it doesn’t, open the Extensions menu and pin Fency to the toolbar.
  • Log in with your organisation credentials if prompted.

⚠️ Note: Extensions installed in Developer Mode are not updated automatically.
For production use, we recommend deployment via Google Workspace or Microsoft Intune.
